The tequila is extracted from the heart of the blue agave and exclusively from this agave species. It is the national drink of Mexico and is strictly monitored there by the regulatory authority Consejo Regulador del Tequila. The most famous cocktails with tequila are probably the margarita and the tequila sunrise.
