Italy - Lombardy

In the very north of Italy, the Lombardy region borders Switzerland. Viticulture here dates back to the Etruscans, Venetians, Ligurians and Romans. The largest wine market in Italy can be found here in Lombardy in Milan. Around 24,700 hectares of vineyards extend across the region. The most suitable areas here are the large lake areas such as Lago di Como, Lago di Garda and Lago d’Iseo between Bergamo and Verona and on the Swiss border in Valtellina.
