Grattamacco
About an hour away from Castello ColleMassari is the Grattamacco winery, which dates back to 1977. It sits on a hill between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri and enjoys panoramic views of the Tuscan coast. The vineyards of Grattamacco are located at an altitude of about 100 meters above sea level, in a wonderfully sheltered position between the hills not far from the famous Sassicaia winery.
The area benefits from a dry climate with large temperature fluctuations and is famous for its great wines. In contrast to other Tuscan wine-growing regions such as Chianti or Montecucco, Sangiovese is also cultivated here, but much, much less. The central varieties are the Bordeaux blend varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Cabernet Franc. So all strong red wine varieties from which strong and long-lasting wines are vinified. The estate has been part of the ColleMassari Group since 2002.
