Lliqueur

Liqueurs (from the Latin word liquor, meaning "liquid") are aromatic spirits with a very high sugar content. A minimum sugar content of 100g per liter applies to liqueurs produced in the EU. The history of the liqueur goes back to the 14th century, but until the 17th century only the wealthiest could afford to drink it due to the very high sugar prices. Since colonialism, sugar has been widely available and this has made it possible for all other classes to purchase liqueurs. Since then there have been liqueurs made from almost every known fruit and herb.
