Poggio di Sotto was founded in 1989 and is located on a hill south-east of Montalcino. The company has been known for the high quality of the Sangiovese cultivated here since it was founded and quickly achieved cult status. The first Brunello di Montalcino dates back to two years after the founding of the estate. In Castelnuovo dell'Abate, at the foot of Mount Amiata, the steep south-facing vineyards reach altitudes of between 200 and 400 meters.
