Italy - South Tyrol

Alto Adige (South-Tyrol)
South Tyrol is the northern area of the double region Trentino-South Tyrol, in Italian Alto Adige. As early as 1,000 B.C. The first vineyards were planted here by the Romansh people in the 4th century BC. This makes South Tyrol one of the oldest German-speaking wine-growing regions. Here the Romans learned the use of wooden wine barrels for storage and transport from the Celts. There are around 5,500 hectares of vineyards here, mainly at an altitude of 500 to 1,000 meters. The traditional pergola form of education is most common here. The climate is continental with warm summers, cold winters and relatively large temperature fluctuations.
