Later the area was also called SLYRS, which in turn became Schliers or Schliersee. 1228 years later, a new pioneering task arises at Schliersee. The founding of the SLYRS single malt whiskey distillery. In 1994, Florian Stetter undertook a study trip to Scotland with fellow master craftsmen. Striking similarities to his homeland, such as the nature of the Spyside region, the certain stubbornness of the Scottish population, a difficult pronunciation and the tendency to be free state inspired Florian Stetter to his vision of producing a Bavarian single malt whiskey. One evening during this study trip, after a few glasses of whiskey, Florian Stetter bet a crate of wheat beer that he could also distill whiskey in Bavaria. That's how it happened and as whiskey pioneers from Upper Bavaria, the team at the SLYRS single malt whiskey distillery has been setting standards in terms of whiskey competence since 1999.
