Ricard has been manufactured in Marseille since 1932. First, the natural oils are extracted from fennel and star anise. Licorice roots are then crushed and placed on a sieve in a closed container. By constantly dousing them with water and alcohol, they are deprived of their natural juices. The basic ingredients are blended with various aromatic herbs, water, caramel and double distilled, neutral alcohol and macerated in alcohol. At the end of the manufacturing process, the drink is filtered three times.
