The crystal-clear aquavit is distilled from caraway and has a full-bodied and harmoniously rounded aroma of various herbs and spices. The caraway dominates the taste and gives the aquavit a strong yet balanced character. The gastronomy has also found favor with the high-quality aquavit. The Malteserkreuz Malteser Aquavit is mainly served pure, but it is also suitable for mixing mixed drinks.
The Malteserkreuz brand is a German aquavit based on a Danish recipe. Malteserkreuz has been produced by Danish Distillers in Berlin since 1924. Production was relocated to Buxtehude between 1972 and 2011. In mid-2011, however, the factory in Buxtehude was closed and production was first moved to Aalborg in Denmark and finally to Hagan in the Norwegian municipality of Nittedal in 2015.
