The GLENFARCLAS distillery is embedded in the lovely hilly landscape at the foot of the majestic Benrinnes mountain. A crystal-clear cold water spring rises high above the distillery from the heart of the Benrinnes. This spring is fed by slowly melting snow that filters through heather and peat down to the granite. The water, shaped by the landscape that was formed millions of years ago by the first glacial movements, is of unusual purity. This gives it its unique character and makes it an important part of Glenfarclas Single Highland Malt. The distillate is filled into the best Spanish sherry casks. The whiskey matures undisturbed for at least 10 years in dark, cool cellars. During this maturation process, the whiskey changes its character and takes on colour. It develops a sweet, mild taste that is unique to it. When it is finally served, you will hold in your hands the autumn sun from the valley of green pastures, turned to liquid gold. This has been the case since the distillery was founded more than 160 years ago.
