The Old Bushmills Distillery is probably the oldest distillery in the world. There are even records from 1784 about a distillery of the same name. Unfortunately, many details of the company's history are no longer traceable, since all valuable records were destroyed during the war. Incidentally, the distillery acquired the official distilling license in 1608. This is also stated on each label of the whiskey brand.
Only malt whiskeys, no pure pot stills or grain whiskeys, are distilled in the Bushmills distillery, based on the Scottish model. Traditionally, of course, these are distilled three times, which is crucial for the high quality of the Irish single malt. The grain whiskeys required for the production of Bushmills Blended Whiskeys are sourced from other Irish whiskey distilleries.
