Picturesque scenery, spectacular wildlife and welcoming people: Bowmore is a place like no other. Around a third of Islay's population lives in the small town on the banks of Loch Indaal. In addition to the whiskey distillery, Bowmore is known for its whitewashed houses, small stone harbor with pier and Bowmore Round Church. The impressive church is at the end of the main road on a hilltop offering stunning views of the village, Loch Indaal and the surrounding countryside.
Bowmore is the oldest distillery on Islay and was founded in 1779 by the Simson family on the shores of Loch Indaal. The distillery produces very balanced single malt whiskeys.
