Indian barley from the foot and spring water from the mountains of the Himalayas - Amrut Indian Single Malt Whiskey is inextricably linked to its homeland. This also applies to its name: according to Indian mythology, gods and demons churned up the sea. A golden vessel sprang from the floods, containing the elixir of life: Amrut.
Founded in 1948 by J.N. Radhakrishna, the Amrut Distilleries were one of the largest suppliers of "Indian made liquor" to the Indian military in their early days. After Radhakrishna's untimely death, his son took over the company - and built Amrut into a globally respected and sought-after brand. In addition to its unpeated whiskeys made from Indian barley, Amrut also produces single malts made from peated malt sourced from Scotland. For a natural aroma, the grain at Amrut is only mashed in small batches. Ripening takes place in tropical conditions - and 900 meters above sea level in Bangalore. Amrut single malt whiskeys are all neither chill filtered nor colored and are the result of years of research. The goal: to produce an Indian whiskey that can compete with the best in the world. With success, as numerous international awards show.
