The White Oak Distillery is a perfect example of one of those rising suns in the Japanese sky. The license of this distillery dates back to 1888. However, they made a name for themselves primarily as producers of shochu and sake. The modern era of whiskey began in 1984 when the current distillery was built near the port of Kobe. The whiskeys from this distillery were mainly used for the AKASHI Blended, which is why older AKASHI single malts in particular are still a coveted rarity. At the ISW 2014, AKASHI SINGLE MALT was awarded silver.
