Lamberto Frescobaldi, a talented and passionate oenologist, has the task of leading the work of the two founders of the Luce dell Vite winery into the future. This is now part of the Holding Tenuta di Toscana under the leadership of Marchesi de Frescobaldi. His responsibilities include in particular the renewal of the vineyards, the modernization of the wineries and research programs for specific vineyards.
The Luce della Vite winery is located in the municipality of Montalcino, southwest of the medieval town of the same name. It covers 192 hectares of land, of which a total of 77 are planted with vines. Part of the vineyards were planted in 1977, while the majority were planted/planted from 1997, with an average stock density of 6100 vines per hectare. The estate is at an altitude of 350 to 420 meters and is one of the highest in the area. At higher altitudes, the well-drained Galestro soil, poor in organic matter, offers the ideal conditions for the cultivation of the Sangiovese vine. At lower altitudes, the soil contains more clay and is therefore ideal for growing Merlot. The long, dry and sunny summer in this area, as well as the high altitude of the south-facing vineyards, allow the grapes to ripen slowly and completely, resulting in very concentrated and powerful wines. The fresh, windy nights in turn contribute to the complex aroma of the grapes.
