The "Unicum Riserva" is a real specialty in two respects, because it is stored in two very different barrels after distillation. The first cask is one of the oldest and largest in the entire distillery, having been in use for a good 80 years. During this time, the wood has developed its very own dynamic and the inner walls are lined with a honey-like substance that gives the "Unicum Riserva" depth and character. The second is a former Tokaj Aszu barrel, in which this legendary Hungarian wine was previously stored in the cellars of the Tokaj winery for decades. Finally, the "Unicum Riserva" is mixed with a little Tokaj Aszu vintage 2007 from the Dobogó winery by Isabella Zwack. It is bottled with 40 vol% alcohol content in a limited edition and in consecutively numbered bottles.
Dark mahogany-colored, it meets the nose with dense, sensual sweetness, dark fruity accents and fine, floral-herbal notes above.
On the palate it is spicy and fruity at the same time, with dried apricots and fleeting, minty-herbal aromas that release this "Unicum Riserva" into a mint-fresh and fruity finish.
