The Mirabelle is a subspecies of the plum. Mirabelle is often confused with the cherry plum, which is similar in size and shape. The yellow fruit belongs to the stone fruit family. The fruit brandy, which is obtained by distilling the fermented fruit, is characterized by a fine, fruity Mirabelle plum tone. Mirabelle water from the Black Forest must be distilled from 100% regional fruit and may not be sweetened or flavored.
