The No Mistake Old Tom Gin was initially released as the first of the Extreme Editions from Ferrand - a strictly limited, special product line.
However, the Old Tom was so well received that it was decided to mass-produce it. The botanicals yarrow, yuzu and cornflower are added to the base of the Citadelle gin, as well as "aged sugar". This is brown cane sugar, which is first caramelized and then aged in barrels with a small amount of gin for three months. Following this "dosage", the gin itself is stored in wooden barrels for another six months. This makes this very special Citadelle a kind of Reserve Old Gin.
Usually, the already quite rare Old Tom Gins are pure mixing spirits. This slightly sweetened gin category is the direct descendant of Genever. That's why it used to be used for gin classics like the Martini or the Martinez - nowadays it's used to give these classics a slightly different touch than usual.
The No Mistake Old Tom Gin is also ideal for pure enjoyment. Its noticeable but not too obtrusive sweetness and the perfect balance of classic gin notes of juniper and herbs in combination with the warm aromas of wood and caramel result in a wonderful play of colors on the palate.
