The 5th edition of the APPIUS expresses the high quality of the 2014 vintage from the St. Michael-Eppan winery. This cuvée is also unique, and yet it is also based on the same principle: low yields, fully ripe grapes and targeted selection of the vineyards in terms of location and soil conditions. The APPIUS 2014 reflects the climatic conditions of the vintage. 2014 was actually a difficult year due to the long periods of rain. Nevertheless, the cellar master Hans Terzer managed to make a virtue out of this circumstance: he created a very lively and fresh APPIUS, with a complex and varied fruit bouquet. On the palate, the wine presents itself fresh, with a pronounced minerality, finesse and elegance.
The eye:
Brilliant, clear straw yellow with lemon yellow reflections
The nose:
Multi-layered, intense fragrance, primarily of hay, yellow peach and persimmon. Also resinous notes, hints of mint and thyme, spicy honey and forest.
The palate:
Supple, balanced and at the same time complex with pronounced fruit aromas, mineral with a long finish.
Consumption recommendation:
APPIUS 2014 is an excellent accompaniment to hearty fish dishes such as turbot or monkfish, to a spicy risotto with seafood, but also to wild poultry or fine veal dishes.
